I was sitting in our living room today, when I looked out our sliding glass door and saw a raccoon peering back in. There was a moment of surprise and then holy smokes…our two Coon hounds saw what I saw. The raccoon scurried around the edges of our backyard while both dogs freaked out jumping against the doors and barking. So much noise.
I grabbed my camera and captured some pictures as the racoon headed towards our big maple tree and climbed it. When I finally felt it was safe to let out the two dogs, they tracked the path of the raccoon around the backyard. Although I could see the racoon in the tree, they didn’t seem to see it. They could smell it, though, and it was driving them crazy.
For now, I’ve called the dogs into the house to give the raccoon time to escape and to give our neighbours a break from the howling. Our youngest black and tan hound, Bones, is now making a nuisance of himself howling and whimpering to get back out. He is being very loud and obnoxious! Mr. Raccoon, I hope you realize the sacrifice I make for you today.
